Police Department

The Villa Park Police Department was established in 1927 and consisted of a Chief and a handful of officers. By 1931 the police department had five full time officers and received their first squad car.

Currently, The Villa Park Police Department consists of 39 sworn full-time police officers, 11 sworn part-time police officers and 12 full and part time civilian staff members. Members of the department serve with pride and may be assigned to patrol, investigations or clerical and support.

The Villa Park Police Department responds to and initiates approximately 30,000 calls annually. In addition to calls for service and traffic enforcement, the Department participates in many other community and school related programs throughout the year. Villa Park has officers assigned to various task force groups such as Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS), DuPage Major Crimes Task Force, Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT) and DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Task Force (DUCART).

Additionally, members of the Villa Park Police Department host or are involved in several programs throughout the year such as:

S.A.L.T.

Seniors & Law Enforcement Together Meetings are held quarterly to provide senior citizens with relevant community information and resources. The meetings are hosted by a member of the police department with a variety of guest speakers that are invited to share up to date information.

The Explorers are led by officers who meet once a week and is open to young men and women from sixth grade to age 20. On the first Tuesday in August, members of the Police Department participate in National Night Out. This is an annual event that gives police and members of the community a chance to interact and raise awareness to the fact that police and the community need to work together. Members of the police and fire departments, along with other staff members of the village cookout and provide games and entertainment for all that attend.
